B-14 | Gospel Music in the Holy Mass – Can we really sing that?

Rob Robinson

What is gospel music and when did it come into use in Catholic parishes? Intended for both musicians and non-musicians, this workshop will explore the history and development of this uniquely American style, detailing the theory of scales, rhythm patterns and vocal production. We will discuss how various types of music are used in the Holy Mass in America today. At the end we will (figurately) hold hands and sing “Kum Ba Yah!”
