SESSION 10 | Finding Truth in an Age of Digital Propaganda

SESSION 10
11.00 – 12.30 : Room 2326

Finding Truth in an Age of Digital propaganda
In a complex and multi-perspectival world, people rely on thought leaders to help make sense of news. Far from being “hidden persuaders,” today’s thought leaders use special techniques to attract attention, establish authority, and evoke strong emotions, leading some audiences to bypass critical thinking skills in this point-and-click world. Explore six different type of “fake news” and consider strategies for deepening our own sense of social responsibility for what we consume and what we create.
