Today digital media are fully integrated into every facet of our lives. How are these media shaping our future? How can we bring our values into conversation with this expanding reality? What are the emerging challenges to living well in the digital world.

The New Generation of Catholic Communicators: Experiences & Challenges
Who are the next generation of Catholic Communicators? What are their expectations and what challenges do they face? What media do they use? What is their understanding of the nexus between media and faith? What have they learned from their own work in social communications? What support and resources do they need for the mission of SIGNIS? In the panel young communicators from various regions who have participated in recent SIGNIS media workshops, including the CommLab seminar in Quebec City just prior to this Congress.

La nouvelle génération de communicateurs catholiques : expériences et défis
Qui est la nouvelle génération de communicateurs catholiques ? Quelles sont leurs attentes et à quels défis doivent-ils faire face ? Quels médias utilisent-ils ? Quelle est leur compréhension du lien entre média et foi? Qu’ont-ils appris de leurs expériences ? De quel support et de quelles ressources ont-ils besoin pour la mission de SIGNIS ? Cette session présente un échantillon de jeunes communicateurs de différentes régions, ayant participé à des ateliers médiatiques de SIGNIS, notamment le Séminaire CommLab à Québec, juste avant ce congrès.

¿Quiénes son la próxima generación de Comunicadores Católicos? ¿Cuáles son sus expectativas y qué desafíos enfrentan? ¿Qué medios utilizan? ¿Cuál es su entendimiento del nexo entre medios y fe? ¿Qué han aprendido de su propio trabajo en las comunicaciones sociales? ¿Qué apoyo y recursos necesitan para avanzar en la misión de SIGNIS? Esta sesión presentará un panel de jóvenes comunicadores de varias regiones que han participado en talleres de medios de SIGNIS en los últimos años, incluyendo el seminario COMLAB (Laboratorio de Comunicación) en Quebec.

Concurrently, he studies the future of Catholicism in Québec today. Ordonné au service de l’Église de Québec, j’ai accompli un ministère pastoral en paroisse et auprès des jeunes. Après avoir soutenu une thèse sur la réception, au diocèse de Québec, de l’enseignement de Vatican II sur le gouvernement ecclésial, mes travaux de recherche ont surtout porté sur le concile Vatican II, son enseignement, son histoire, son herméneutique et sa réception. Concurremment, l’enseignement, la direction de mémoires et de thèses dans les domaines de l’ecclésiologie, de la missiologie et de la catéchèse m’ont conduit à élaborer une synthèse sur le devenir du catholicisme au Québec au cours de la période contemporaine.

Communicating Faith and Hope when the Going gets Tough
Our faith in God is easier when everything is going well. But what about the times in our lives when it is challenged, undermined and threatened by the things that happens to us, or those we love? This critical session will help put words around what we can communicate as we invite our sisters and brothers to hold on to a God who walks with us in “shadow of death” and the “valley of tears.”

Communiquer la foi et l’espérance en temps de crise
Il est plus facile de croire en Dieu lorsque tout va bien. Mais que faire quand notre foi est mise à l’épreuve, affaiblie et menacée par les choses qui nous arrive, ou à ceux que l’on aime ? Cette session importante aide à trouver les mots justes pour inviter nos sœurs et nos frères à s’ accrocher à un Dieu qui marche avec nous dans « l’ ombre de la mort » et la « vallée des larmes ».

Comunicar la fe y la esperanza cuando las cosas se ponen difíciles
Nuestra fe en Dios es fácil cuando todo va bien. Pero ¿qué pasa durante esos momentos de nuestra vida en que somos desafiados, envilecidos y amenazados por las cosas que nos suceden o, incluso, por aquellos a quienes amamos? Esta sesión ayudará a encontrar palabras para intentar comunicarnos en esos momentos críticos y para invitar a nuestras hermanas y hermanos a aferrarse a un Dios que camina a nuestro lado en esta “sombra de muerte“, en este “valle de lágrimas“.

A New Direction for Vatican Communications
In 2015 Pope Francis established the new Vatican Secretariat for Communication with Don Dario Edoardo Viganò, former Director of CTV as its first Prefect. It is in the process of integrating all the main communications activities of the Holy See (Press Office, Vatican Radio, CTV, Film Library, Vatican Printing press, Osservatore Romano) into one new organizational structure. Msgr Lucio Adrtian Ruiz, the Secretary for the Secretariat is interviewed by Helen Osman about how the changes are progressing and future plans.
