1-02 Beyond Content: Engaging the Heart, Not Just the Head

Session 1: 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Catechist re-certification credits: Methodology

Witnessing the awakening of the mind gives us great joy and a spring in our step. Witnessing the awakening of the soul takes our breath away and even changes us. We are more than teachers: we are evangelizers. Explore the difference between those who teach knowledge and those who transform lives. In this way, this workshop would then feed into the work of Saturday, not be separate from it. This is designed in a mini-retreat format as opposed to lecture style.

Richard Curran, is the founder and executive director of the Parish Success Group, a Catholic non-profit organization that provides professional skill and organizational development training and coaching to ministry leaders. 1-01 Have You Seen Him? Searching for the Child Jesus!

Session 1: 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

Catechist re-certification credits: Prayer & Spirituality

As the teachers and preachers of our churches and schools, we’re often challenged to do the impossible. Somehow, we are supposed to teach God’s children while dealing with all of the complications that they carry: broken homes and issues of abuse – our children bring a lot with them when they cross the threshold of our classroom. This interactive workshop will help you gain a new perspective on teaching the children of God. Designed to joyfully renew your energy and spark new levels of educational enthusiasm. Prepare yourself to be spiritually lifted as we answer the question, “Have You seen Him?”

Parish Planning Prayer

Merciful Father, pour out your Spirit of wisdom and love
To guide us in this pastoral planning process to
Be Missionary Disciples
Of your son, Jesus Christ.

Transform us through the Eucharist we share,
That it may become the source and summit of our lives.
Make us truly welcoming to all of your people,
That our hearts may open to your grace and mercy.

Walk with us as we accompany one another
Along the path of spiritual growth and discipleship.
And send us forth to proclaim the joy of the Gospel
Through faith, service, justice and love of others, most especially the poor.

May we never lose sight of our sacred mission
To “go and make disciples of all nations”
So that in this Archdiocese of Baltimore
The light of Christ would always be
A Light Brightly Visible.

Amen.
