Breslin Center on the MSU Campus

Gather with thousands of faith-filled Catholics at the Breslin Center in East Lansing for a once in a lifetime experience where you will be inspired by presentations from world renowned speakers such as Fr. Mike Schmitz, Jennifer Fulwiler, Deacon Larry Oney, Fr. Joe Krupp and the chief shepherd of our diocese, Bishop Earl Boyea. We will also be led in beautiful and uplifting praise and worship by our house band consisting of some of the most talented musicians from across our diocese. Throughout the day you’ll have the opportunity to view several fascinating religious displays from some of the most miraculous events in the history of Christianity.

7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Throughout the morning and afternoon of the Assembly at the Breslin Center, attendees will have access to the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the opportunity to view several religious displays such as the Eucharistic Miracles of the World, the Shroud of Turin, Our Lady of Guadalupe and Sacred Relics of the Saints. Participants will also be able to take advantage of the best-of-the-best of a variety of Catholic vendors and ministries. Fun activities for young children will also be available and professional childcare will be offered free-of-charge during select times in the afternoon. The Breslin Center concession stands will be open for those who wish to purchase meals on site.

Note: Doors to the Breslin Center will open at 7:00 a.m. for Assembly attendees who wish to park at the Breslin and ride the free shuttle to the Eucharistic Procession.  Assembly goers who choose not to walk in the Eucharistic Procession are welcome to view it live, remotely from the Breslin Center.  Parking is available in lots around the Breslin at a cost of $10 for the day. For groups planning to arrive by bus, there is a $40 parking fee. Free bus transportation from the Breslin to St. Mary Cathedral will be provided starting at 7:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. for those who want to be dropped off at the Church of the Resurrection to only walk half of the procession.

4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The day’s events will come to a joyful culmination with a celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered by Bishop Earl Boyea with nearly all the clergy of the Diocese of Lansing.

*REMINDER: Parishes throughout the diocese have been asked to refrain from scheduling any events on the day of the Assembly and not to schedule Saturday afternoon/evening Masses in hopes that all our parishioners and clergy from across the diocese may join Bishop Boyea for this special Mass.

Father Mike Schmitz

FATHER MIKE SCHMITZ

Father Mike Schmitz has gained a national following for his inspiring and joy-filled preaching about the love of God and the call of Jesus Christ.  A priest for the Diocese of Duluth, Minnesota, he directs Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the diocese and serves as chaplain for the Newman Center at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Jennifer Fulwiler

JENNIFER FULWILER

Jennifer Fulwiler is a writer, speaker, radio show host, wife and mother of six children. Raised in a household without any faith, she had a profound epiphany as an adult that led to her entrance into the Catholic Church. In her pursuit to find the meaning of life, she discovered that true happiness sometimes requires losing it all.

Father Joe Krupp

FATHER JOE KRUPP

Father Joe Krupp was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Lansing in 1997. In addition to serving as pastor of Sacred Heart parish in Hudson and St. Mary parish in Manitou Beach, Fr. Joe is a columnist for Faith Catholic Magazine, answering questions about the faith while infusing theology with humor. Fr. Joe will serve as emcee for the Assembly Gathering.

Larry Oney

DEACON LARRY ONEY

Deacon Larry Oney a permanent deacon for the Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans, serves at Divine Mercy Parish in Kenner, Louisiana. With a passion for lifting people up and sharing the faith, he leverages humor, joy, Scripture, love and personal insight to speak to people’s hearts and encourage them to live Spirit-filled lives.

Bishop Boyea

BISHOP BOYEA

Bishop Earl Boyea was installed as Lansing’s fifth bishop of Lansing on April 29, 2008. The oldest of ten children, he was raised in Waterford, Michigan and studied at Sacred Heart Seminary High School and College and subsequently at the Pontifical North American College and Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained to the priesthood on May 20, 1978.

Breslin Center Accessibility Information

Lansing Gathering

Barrier-Free Parking:  Accessible parking is available in both of the lots immediately south of the Breslin Center, 63W and 63E, and are used on a first come, first served basis.

Wheelchair Availability:  Complimentary wheelchairs are available for use at the Breslin Center. A valid driver’s license will be required as a deposit to obtain a wheelchair at the Guest Services booth across from the Hall of History Gate.

Accessible Seating:  The Breslin Center has accessible seating platforms and seating areas on the floor level (for most events) for those needing special seating. Elevator access to the floor level is available in the Elevator lobby.

Spanish and Sign Language Interpretation:  Spanish and Sign Language Interpreters will be available onsite.  Please check back to this section for directions on where to be seated for interpretation.
