Presenters: Fr. Jim Ries & Fr. Andrew Kemberling

Fr. Jim Ries: Born in Fargo, N.D. Grew up in the mid-west. Graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a B.S. in Zoology with an emphasis in Human Physiology (Pre-Med). Fr. Jim worked as a Chemist for the Orange County Sanitation Districts before attending St. John’s Seminary, School of Theology. He was ordained for the Diocese of Orange in 1993 and serves as a Board Member for the Orange Catholic Foundation. He was assigned as a Parochial Vicar at St. Joseph’s in Placentia, CA, St. Norbert’s in Orange, CA, St. Irenaeus in Cypress, CA. He served as Pastor of St. Mary’s in Fullerton, CA from 2003 – 2015. He currently serves as Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Church, San Clemente, CA.

Rev. Andrew Kemberling is currently pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Denver, Colorado, a parish of about 1300 families. His previous assignment of 14 years was pastor at St. Thomas More Parish in Centennial, Colorado, a parish of more than 4600 families. During his time at St. Thomas More, the parish received numerous awards including the International Catholic Stewardship Council’s Archbishop Thomas Murphy Award for promoting stewardship as a way of life. One of ten children, Fr. Andrew was born in Tucson, Arizona. He joined the Benedictine order in 1985 and was ordained a priest in 1988. A frequent speaker at stewardship conferences in the U.S.A. and in the Philippines, Fr. Andrew, along with his colleague, Mila Glodava, co-authored a book, “Making Stewardship a Way of Life: A Complete Guide for Catholic Parishes”. His audio series with the same title currently airs on KRCN 1060 AM in Colorado and nine other radio stations around the country. Fr. Andrew is a distinguished alumnus of the University of Arizona, Holy Cross Abbey and St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota

Presenters: Leisa Anslinger and Stephanie Moore

Leisa Anslinger brings extensive experience in parishes and schools to her ministry as an author, presenter, and consultant. She is a recognized contributor to publications, including titles on lifelong catechesis, stewardship, parish leadership and evangelization. Leisa is the Co-Director of Catholic Life and Faith, a resource center for parish staff and parishioners. Additionally, Leisa regularly presents workshops at the national, regional and diocesan level and facilitates parish leadership and retreat experiences.

Leisa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from St. Mary-ofthe-Woods College, a Masters in Secondary School Counseling from Purdue University and a Master of Arts in Religion from the Athenaeum of Ohio. She lives in Loveland, Ohio with her husband, Steve. They are the parents of two children, Mike and Carrie and the grandparents of Patrick.

Stephanie brings her passion and years of leadership, facilitation and speaking experience to helping faith leaders build vibrant and engaged communities. She has worked in the area of Engagement, Stewardship and Gifts Discernment for the past 10+ years and built her practical experience as the Director of Engagement and Stewardship for St. Anne Parish in Byron, CA.

Currently, she is Co-Director of Catholic Life and Faith. Along with Leisa Anslinger, they have designed and deliver the “Bridges Leadership Series.” These practical hands on workshops and workbooks include topics such as “Building Bridges to the Heart of Discipleship: Creating an Engaging and Evangelizing Community”, “Six steps to Creating a Parish Covenant” and “Forming Strengths-based Ministry Teams”.

She is also Co-Founder of the Catholic Strengths and Engagement Community. CSEC is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization designed to provide an on-line connected community for parish leadership. Through this network, members are invited to share best practices, contribute to an on-line library and ask relevant questions.

Stephanie regularly speaks at International and Regional Stewardship Conferences. Many of her topics are based on the practical experience from her own parish as well as those dioceses, parishes and organizations in which she has consulted.

She has been extensively trained by Gallup in the areas of Engagement and Strengths for both individuals and teams. She has been a teacher and coach for the Catherine of Siena Institute’s “Called and Gifted” process over the past 12 years and was instrumental in implementing the Called and Gifted process in an East Bay Deanery in the Diocese of Oakland as well as other regions in the United States.

Stephanie is also a corporate master trainer, facilitator and executive coach, bringing 20+ years of her own personal experience in leadership, communications and career development. A graduate of St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California with a B.S. in Psychology, she is also a graduate of the School for Pastoral Ministry through the Diocese of Oakland

It is a blessing to help parishioners discover their talents and become good stewards of their strengths! Teens in youth ministry, Confirmation candidates and their sponsors, couples preparing for marriage, young adults on retreats, and adults in small groups — everyone can benefit from the process of talent identification using StrengthsFinder. Individuals grow in living faith as disciples and stewards, and the parish is transformed as well. If you are new to this process, this session will provide a brief introduction to help you get started. If you are already familiar with strengths development, come get refreshed and learn about new resources to help you in this life-giving ministry

Presenter: Yaret Macedo

Yaret Macedo es actualmente Directora de Administración y Ministerios Pastorales en la parroquia Inmaculado Corazón de María. Obtuvo una Licenciatura en Administración de Empresas de la Universidad Cal State Fullerton y una Maestría en Teología Pastoral de la Universidad de Loyola Marymount. Yaret ha estado involucrada en la vida ministerial por más de 20 años como miembro activo en la parroquia y administradora por 9 años del Instituto para el Ministerio Pastoral (IPM) en la Diócesis de Orange. Fue miembro por 15 años y coordinadora de un grupo de oración dentro del Movimiento Apostólico de la Renovación Carismática. Ha participado como miembro del concilio de finanzas, coordinado clases para la formación de adultos y el proyecto de la Campaña Capital Diocesana en la parroquia.

Yaret Macedo is currently the Director of Administration and Pastoral Ministries at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. She has a degree in Business Administration from Cal State University, Fullerton and a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Theology from Loyola Marymount University. Yaret has been involved in the ministerial life for over 20 years as an active parishioner and worked for 9 years in the Institute for Pastoral Ministry (IPM) of the Diocese of Orange. She was a member for 15 years and coordinator of the prayer group Pequeño Rebaño within the Charismatic Renewal Apostolic Movement. She has participated as a member of the Finance Council, coordinated Adult Faith Formation classes and was the Chairperson for the Diocesan Capital Campaign for the parish.

Recognizing, Recruiting and Developing Gifts of Time and Talent
Parish ministers play a vital role in growing the life of the parish. How do we identify and empower parishioners to take a step in to revitalize the life of the parish? In this workshop, we will present ideas to find, invite, nurture and energize ministers to develop their gifts of time and talents in an effective way that responds to God’s calling in the service of others.

Presenter: Coni Perez

Coni Perez is a long term parishioner at the Catholic Community of St. Luke the Evangelist in Houston, TX and former Director of Stewardship. After a career with General Motors, Coni has been a Training and Quality Consultant in Customer Service Skills with companies across the nation. Currently, she works with parishes and dioceses to establish or enhance their Stewardship programs. She has served on the Customer Advisory Panel on Stewardship for Our Sunday Visitor and leads the Stewardship Networking Group for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. St. Luke the Evangelist was honored in 2004 as the “Stewardship Parish of the Year” by the International Catholic Stewardship Council for its long-term commitment to Stewardship as a way of life.

Whether you are starting a new committee or have an existing one having a dedicated team that is active and involved in your parish is the key to successful stewardship efforts. Our parish stewardship committee was formed eighteen years ago and focused its efforts on teaching Stewardship as a way of life.
