The New Generation of Catholic Communicators: Experiences & Challenges
Who are the next generation of Catholic Communicators? What are their expectations and what challenges do they face? What media do they use? What is their understanding of the nexus between media and faith? What have they learned from their own work in social communications? What support and resources do they need for the mission of SIGNIS? In the panel young communicators from various regions who have participated in recent SIGNIS media workshops, including the CommLab seminar in Quebec City just prior to this Congress.

La nouvelle génération de communicateurs catholiques : expériences et défis
Qui est la nouvelle génération de communicateurs catholiques ? Quelles sont leurs attentes et à quels défis doivent-ils faire face ? Quels médias utilisent-ils ? Quelle est leur compréhension du lien entre média et foi? Qu’ont-ils appris de leurs expériences ? De quel support et de quelles ressources ont-ils besoin pour la mission de SIGNIS ? Cette session présente un échantillon de jeunes communicateurs de différentes régions, ayant participé à des ateliers médiatiques de SIGNIS, notamment le Séminaire CommLab à Québec, juste avant ce congrès.

¿Quiénes son la próxima generación de Comunicadores Católicos? ¿Cuáles son sus expectativas y qué desafíos enfrentan? ¿Qué medios utilizan? ¿Cuál es su entendimiento del nexo entre medios y fe? ¿Qué han aprendido de su propio trabajo en las comunicaciones sociales? ¿Qué apoyo y recursos necesitan para avanzar en la misión de SIGNIS? Esta sesión presentará un panel de jóvenes comunicadores de varias regiones que han participado en talleres de medios de SIGNIS en los últimos años, incluyendo el seminario COMLAB (Laboratorio de Comunicación) en Quebec.

Today digital media are fully integrated into every facet of our lives. How are these media shaping our future? How can we bring our values into conversation with this expanding reality? What are the emerging challenges to living well in the digital world.

The Return of the Religious in Film
In the past 5 years, religious issues made a surprising return in contemporary cinema. Not only to cover the rise of intregrism or the lack of spiritual values, but also as new film-makers, sometimes without any personal religious background, are looking at the mystery of faith, belief and rituals with a totally new eye. Coming from different parts of the world, directors, film reviewers, festival directors and scriptwriters will try to decipher this artistic trend.

Le retour du religieux dans le cinéma
Ces 5 dernières années, les sujets religieux ont fait un retour étonnant au sein du cinéma contemporain. Ces films n’abordent pas seulement la montée de l’intégrisme ou le manque de valeurs spirituelles, mais de nouveaux réalisateurs, sans aucune appartenance religieuse, cherchent à sonder le mystère de la foi, de la croyance et des rituels avec un œil tout à fait nouveau. Venant de différentes régions du monde, réalisateurs, critiques, directeurs de festivals et scénaristes déchiffrent, lors de cette session, cette tendance artistique.

Ultimamente, el tema religioso ha tenido un sorpresivo auge en el cine. No solo se presentan tratamientos sobre el crecimiento del integrismo o la pérdida de valores espirituales, también los realizadores, muchos de ellos ajenos a cualquier religiosidad, exploran los misterios de la fe, de creencias y rituales, desde una nueva perspectiva.

Voices of Hope from Traditional Cultures
The impact of digitization, globalization and other forces on indigenous and traditional cultures should not be seen completely as an inevitable tale of destruction and loss. Following the theme of the Congress, this session aims to promote stories of hope by sharing positive experiences of how communications can make a difference.

Voix d’espérance des cultures traditionnelles
L’impact de la numérisation, de la mondialisation et d’autres forces sur les cultures indigènes et traditionnelles ne doit pas être complètement considéré comme un récit inévitable de destruction et de perte. En suivant le thème du congrès, cette session a pour but de promouvoir des histoires d’espérance en partageant des expériences positives de projets de communication qui font la différence.

Voces de Esperanza de Culturas Tradicionales
El impacto de la digitalización, la globalización y otras fuerzas tecnológicas sobre los pueblos indígenas y sus tradiciones culturales, no debe ser comprendido como un inevitable cuento de destrucción y de pérdida. En la misma perspectiva del Congreso, esta sesión busca promover historias de esperanza, compartiendo experiencias exitosas en las cuales la comunicación marcó la diferencia.

Quebec Pioneers of Communication
To illustrate the theme of plenary 4, a panel will demonstrate how young pioneers of the 17th Century devoted themselves to evangelizing Canada as many others did around the world in various colonies. The distinctive trait of Canada’s first Pioneers of the Faith is that they put communication, and the respect that communication demands, at the service of evangelization.

Les pionniers québécois de la communication
Pour illustrer le thème de la session plénière 4, un panel expliquera com-ment les jeunes pionniers du 17ème siècle se sont dévoués à évangéliser le Canada, comme beaucoup d’autres l’ont fait dans d’autres colonies du monde. Le trait distinctif des premiers pionniers de la foi au Canada est qu’ils mettaient la communication et le respect qu’elle exige, au service de l’évangélisation.

Pioneros de la comunicación en Quebec
Un panel mostrará cómo los jóvenes pioneros del siglo XVII, como lo hi-cieron muchos otros en todo el mundo, evangelizaron Canadá. El rasgo distintivo de los pioneros de la fe en Canadá es que centraron la comu-nicación y el respeto que exige su praxis, al servicio de la evangelización.
