Bernard E. “Ned” Shlesinger III nació el 17 de diciembre de 1960 en Washington, D.C. Se graduó de la Escuela Secundaria Mount Vernon en Alexandria, Virginia y recibió una licenciatura en ingeniería agrícola de Virginia Tech. en 1983. Shlesinger sirvió como vicario parroquial en la Iglesia de St. Mary en Wilmington, y luego como párroco de la Iglesia Our Lady of Guadalupe en Newton Grove entre 1998 y 2007, mientras actuaba también como asistente del director de vocaciones entre 1999 y 2002.

Bernard E. “Ned” Shlesinger III was born December 17, 1960 in Washington, D.C. A graduate of Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria, VA, he received a bachelor of science degree in agricultural engineering from Virginia Tech in 1983. After college, he was commissioned as an officer in the U. S. Air Force and became a pilot. His military service primarily centered on flying the C-130E Hercules from Pope Air Force Base in Fayetteville, N.C. He retired from active duty in 1990, when he began studies for the priesthood in the Diocese of Raleigh, N.C.

He studied philosophy at Theological College at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He then entered the North American College in Rome, Italy, completing a bachelor’s degree in sacred theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University. He also began studies toward the licentiate of sacred theology in spiritual theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas. He was ordained a priest on June 22, 1996 in Wilmington, N.C.

Shlesinger served as a parochial vicar at St. Mary Church in Wilmington and then as pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Newton Grove from 1998-2007, while also serving as assistant director of vocations from 1999-2002.

He became the director of vocations and seminarian formation for the Diocese of Raleigh in 2007 and served in that role until 2013. He was also the administrator of Maria, Reina de las Americas Church in Mount Olive and two other missions from 2010-2012. He became the spiritual director in the theology division of St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood, PA in 2013.

On May 15, 2017, His Holiness, Pope Francis, appointed him auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Atlanta. He was ordained July 19, 2017.

El Reverendo Pedro F. Núñez, sacerdote católico de la Arquidiócesis de New Orleans, es uno de los predicadores católicos de habla hispana de mayor renombre a nivel mundial. Nació en la Habana, Cuba y emigró a los Estados Unidos en 1962. Fue ordenado para el sacerdocio en 1977.

El P. Núñez es director de “Mensaje”, un ministerio de la Oficina de Comunicaciones de la Arquidiócesis de New Orleans. También es el conductor del programa de televisión semanal “Conozca Primero su Fe Católica”, el cual es trasmitido en VIVO a más de 85 millones de hogares en 110 países y 16 territorios por la cadena de televisión católica EWTN. Adicionalmente, conduce el programa radial “A Solas con Jesús” que se transmite por Radio Católica Mundial.

En adición a sus muchos ministerioss, el P. Núñez ha escrito varios libros, incluyendo: “Conozca Primero su Fe Católica” y “Cuántas Iglesias fundó Jesús” y viaja constantemente por toda Latinoamérica y los Estados Unidos proclamando la Palabra del Señor.


Fr. Pedro Núñez, a Catholic priest for the Archdiocese of New Orleans, is one of the most known Catholic preachers in the Spanish speaking world. He was born in Habana, Cuba and immigrated to the Unites States in 1962. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1977.

Fr. Núñez is the director of “Mensaje” a ministry of the Office of Communications in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. He is also the host of the weekly TV program, “Conozca Primero su Fe Católica” (“Know Your Catholic Faith First”) which is aired LIVE to more than 85 million households in 110 countries and 16 territories of the Catholic television network, EWTN. Fr. Núñez also conducts the radio program “A Solas con Jesús” (“Alone with Jesus”) aired through Radio Católica Mundial (Worldwide Catholic Radio).

In addition to these many ministries, Fr. Núñez is the author of several books, including: Conozca Primero su Fe Católica and Cuántas Iglesias fundó Jesús (How Many Churches Did Jesus Founded). He travels frequently throughout Latin America and the United States spreading the word of the Lord.

Peter Kreeft, Ph.D., is a professor of philosophy at Boston College. He has written 75 books, including “Handbook of Christian Apologetics,” “Christianity for Modern Pagans” and “Fundamentals of the Faith.”

Kreeft is known for his spiritual writings on a variety of topics, such as discernment, heaven, spiritual history and religious liberty.

Many of his featured writings and audio are available on his website, peterkreeft.com.

Peter Kreeft loves his five grandchildren, four children, one wife, one cat and one God.

Mother Olga of the Sacred Heart, founder and mother servant of Daughters of Mary of Nazareth, was born and raised in Iraq. She lived through four wars.

She has a bachelor’s degree in biology and hematology from Arbil University in Iraq and a master’s in philosophy and theology from Babylon College, which is affiliated with the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome. She also has a diploma in Islamic studies and a certificate in theology of the body.

In 1993, Mother Olga started a lay movement called Love Your Neighbor, inviting young men and women from Christian and Muslim communities to serve the needs of the poor in Iraq. Two years later, she established the order of Marth Maryam Sisters—Missionaries of the Virgin Mary, the first order for religious sisters in the Assyrian Church of the East in 700 years.

In her homeland, Mother Olga was involved in pastoral ministry for college students and youth in parishes throughout Iraq. She also served prisoners, homeless, elderly and handicapped of war for many years. The Iraqi government gave her a humanitarian award for her service to the poor.

She came to the United States in 2001 for her studies, and received her master’s degree in pastoral ministry from Boston College. From 2002–2011, she was involved in campus ministry at Boston University, and served as the university chaplain. She was received into the Roman Catholic Church on Sept. 8, 2005 and made her perpetual vows in early December the same year.

Mother Olga continues to be recognized for her service to those in need. In 2008, she received the Religious Sister of the Year award at the Boston Catholic Women’s Conference. In 2010, she received the Saint Paul the Apostle Award from the Archdiocese of Boston, and a year later received an honorary Scarlet Key Award from Boston University. She also received the Bowie Kuhn Special Award for Evangelization at the Legatus 2012 Annual Summit.

In summer 2009, Cardinal Séan Patrick O’Malley gave Mother Olga the permission to start a new apostolate on the Boston University campus called the Nazareth House, a place of prayer and discernment for young women. In 2011, Cardinal O’Malley entrusted to her the mission of establishing a new religious community of sisters in the Archdiocese of Boston called the Daughters of Mary of Nazareth.

Free and Cheerful Missionaries: Characteristics of Today’s Disciples. Pope Francis talks a lot about discipleship, but what does he say often about the character of a modern disciple? What do today’s disciples look like and sound like? Would we notice a disciple if we met one and could we dare to use the title for ourselves? Let us consider that despite human frailty, we too can become free and cheerful missionaries with a specific and unique calling.


KEYNOTE: David Wells

David Wells is a catechist and author who regularly speaks at conferences throughout the world. David was born in Market Harborough, Educated at St Joseph’s primary school there and then at English Martyrs in Leicester. He returned to the diocese after university to work at the Briars, Crich and then as a teacher at St John Houghton in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. He later worked for the Catholic Education Service in London as a research assistant and gained an M(Phil) having researched Effective Methods in Teacher in-service Training.

In the 1990’s David served the Nottingham diocese as an Education Adviser working at Mornington Crescent. David has contributed to the production of catechetical resources in the UK and North America and spoken at more than 300 conferences worldwide. He is a regular contributor to the Religious Education Congress at Anaheim in California, where over 30,000 delegates gather to hear some of the world’s most prolific religious writers.

In the USA he was a contributor to the Echoes in Faith Programme by RCL Benziger. He has also spoken at some of the largest gatherings of teachers in Canada and appeared on Canadian television. In the UK he has presented at conferences in every diocese in England and Wales, served on several working parties for the Bishop’s Conference of England and Wales, guest lectures at three English Universities, and in 2000 he scripted and produced the video series “You, your Children and their Catholic faith” which sold widely throughout the English speaking Church. He has published two books, The Reluctant Disciple and The Grateful Disciple, both available from Redemptorist Publications. The Reluctant Disciple was Redemptorist’s best-selling book of 2015.

Bishop Malcolm McMahon Chair of the Department for Education and Formation in the Bishop’s Conference described David as a “Remarkable and gifted speaker.” David is married to Alison and they have three grown up children and a very badly behaved dog. David’s eldest son Sam, has just begun a teaching career in mathematics. David now lives in Exmouth, East Devon where, when he has an opportunity, he spends time on the Exe Estuary pretending he understands the sea.

Jerry Aull and his daughter Geneva Adrienne Tigue will lead praise and worship for the Healing Service. Both are musicians and speakers in the Catholic Church. Jerry is a long-time speaker for Franklin Covey and the lead singer in the big band Sentimental Journey Orchestra. Dr. Aull teaches theology at Marist High School. Geneva has done ministry with her father and mother over the years and sings on five of her father’s CDs. Geneva Tigue leads bilingual music with Greg Ferrara around the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Greg and Geneva have led praise and worship at the Eucharistic Congress for five years, and they released a debut album in 2017.
