Florida Eucharistic Congress

Bishop Robert Baker

FLEC, FLEC General Track

Bishop Robert Baker has led the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama since October 2, 2007. Born in Willard, Ohio, Bishop Baker studied at both the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio and the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Italy. He was ordained a priest in 1970, and his first assignment was as assistant pastor of St Paul’s Parish in Jacksonville Beach. He also taught at Bishop Kenny High School for two years, directing the school’s Department of Religion in 1971. After that, he served at St. Augustine Catholic Church and Catholic Gators, then became a faculty member of St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach, and then served as pastor of the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine from 1984 to 1999, and later served as pastor of Christ the King Catholic Church. He was ordained a bishop in 1999 and served as bishop of the Diocese of Charleston, S.C. until 2007.

K Through 3rd Grade

The children’s track at the Eucharistic Congress for children in K – 3rd grade is built to resemble a one day “Vacation Bible School.” The Congress’s theme and Eucharistic focus is explored with crafts, music, storytelling, guided Adoration, and other supportive materials presented through a variety of media.

4th Grade Through 6th Grade

The children’s track at the Eucharistic Congress for children in grades 4 through 6th is designed to engage this age group in several activities that enhance their knowledge about the Mass and the Eucharist. These young participants will move from station to station exploring and sharing how they can “Live In ‘His” Love” through participation in the Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. A guided Adoration will also occur in this track.

IMPORTANT: In addition to paying the registration fee, you must fill out a registration form in the section below for each child.  Payments may also be made via check and mailed with the registration forms.
The registration fee for children is $5 PRIOR TO March 9th for one or $15 per child AFTER March 9th.  So please register early.  This fee will ensure a place for your child in the track and also provide materials and a snack.

Please note:  There is no registration fee for 7th grade and above as they are welcome to join the teen track.  Also there will be no childcare available.

Marie Miller

FLEC Young Adult Track

Marie Miller – Singer, Songwriter and Instrumentalist

Growing up in the Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia, the third of ten children, Miller began singing at the age of seven. At twelve she joined her family band, playing festivals and churches, with her sister Justina. The bluegrass duo was billed as the Miller Sisters.

In 2005 Miller moved on from the family band to sign a recording contract and publishing deal with Curb Records. Since that time she has released two EP’s, Marie Miller (2006), and You’re Not Alone (2013), toured the country, and risen significantly in radio charts. Miller’s 2013 single “You’re Not Alone” charted at #1 on Billboard Christian Hot AC/CHR Charts with the music video premiering on VH1 and CMT. The single also reached 115,000 downloads on Amazon’s Rising Star Program. Miller’s current single “6’2” charted at #26 on Billboard AC and the music video premiered on vh1.com. Marie was a finalist in the 2014 Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star Competition, with her single “6’2” played in Macy’s stores around the country. “6’2” was also featured on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars in May 2014. Miller’s singles “You’re Not Alone” and “6’2”receive significant airplay on SiriusXM stations The Blend, The Pulse, and 20 on 20.

Marie Miller has opened for the Backstreet Boys, Sara Evans, MAGIC!, Andy Grammar, Colbie Caillat, Carbon Leaf, Five for Fighting, and the Plain White T’s. In September 2015 she performed for Pope Francis and 750,000 attendees in Philadelphia, PA. The performance was aired live on CNN and Fox News.

Dr. Edward Sri

FLEC Young Adult Track

Dr. Edward Sri is a theologian, author, and nationally known Catholic speaker who appears regularly on EWTN. The author of several Catholic best-selling books, including A Biblical Walk through the Mass and Walking with Mary. He is the host of the acclaimed film series Symbolon: The Catholic Faith Explained (Augustine Institute) which is being used in over 5,000 parishes. He serves as professor of theology and vice president of Mission at the Augustine Institute in Denver.

Dr. Sri is a founding leader with Curtis Martin of FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students). He holds a doctorate from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome and resides with his wife, Elizabeth, and their eight children in Littleton, Colorado.
