Wristbands
Your colored wristband serves as your conference pass and allows you entrance to all sessions and meals. Anyone without the correct wristband will not be granted entrance to sessions and meals. Do not lose your wristband!

Prayer Ministry

First Line of Defense

Thank you for your yes to care for and minister to the youth at the Steubenville Youth Conference!

The group leader and adult chaperones are the primary ministers to the youth during the weekend. Please be sure to share all of this information with all adult chaperones and religious in your group.

The Team of Prayer Ministers

Prayer ministers will be wearing red shirts with prayer minister vests and will be available throughout the weekend. They may approach you to ask if you need assistance. Feel free to approach a prayer minister for help.

Role of Prayer Ministry

The role of prayer ministry is to serve and support you and your chaperones by offering spiritual assistance to the youth in your group. Prayer ministry is an extension of the ministry done by the ministry team from the stage and by you as the group leader and chaperones. They can assist you if there are several youth who need attention or if there is a particular situation that you and your chaperones are unsure how to handle.

Remaining Present

If a prayer minister does assist your youth, it is ideal to have an adult chaperone from your group present to watch over and pray with them as well, as it is good for the youth to have a familiar person present. In addition, it is the adult chaperone who will be going home with the youth. Therefore, he or she can continue to pray for and with them at home if needed. If this is not possible, know that the prayer minister will encourage the youth and let them know that group leaders and chaperones are there for them if need be.

Arrival and Check In

Plan to arrive at the Conference Registration Check-In Table between 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018, at the Rosen Shingle Creek. The group leader and one chaperone of the opposite sex will check in. In order to prevent confusion, the rest of the group MUST wait away from the check-in area.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of Group Leaders and Chaperones:

  • Group leaders and chaperones must be 21 years of age or older and of good moral character and judgment.
  • Group leaders and chaperones must meet the requirements and standards of their local diocese for working with youth and agree to comply with their local Diocesan Child Protection Policies.
  • There will be at least one adult chaperone per 10 youth participants; each gender must have appropriate chaperone ratios.
  • Although we strongly support Catholic family life, our staffing, facility constraints, and insurance regulations do not allow us to provide childcare. In addition, the focus of the group leader/adult chaperones needs to be on the youth participants. If these adults bring their own children, their focus will be split. If a young child is brought into the conference area, the young child and the parent will be asked to leave.
  • For the safety and well being of all conference participants and volunteers, the Steubenville Conference Team depends on adult chaperones to help facilitate order and to serve as a network of support for the youth. It is important that chaperones be an example of obedience and in cooperation with the policies and procedures with our staff and volunteers on site.
  • Youth must be accompanied by a chaperone at all times.
  • Chaperones are responsible for making sure that teen participants are in their rooms at curfew time.  Chaperones should be the last to fall asleep.
  • No males may enter the rooms of female participants. No females may enter the rooms of male participants.
  • We are not the only guests at the hotel, so we ask that all chaperones monitor their youth while walking in the hotel hallways to minimize noise.  Any damages are the financial responsibility of the group leader.
  • Chaperones must complete room checks to account for all youth in their group.
  • Groups may not share chaperones.

3:45 pm – 5:00 pm | The Fulfillment of Isaiah 61: Healing and Restoration in Christ

JCWC: Gentile Gallery

Mary Bielski, founder of ALL4HIM Ministries, has spoken to over 200,000 teens around the nation at high school and young adult retreats and conferences, including Steubenville Youth Conferences, Life Teen-Inspiration, LA Congress, and parish and diocesan rallies. Mary talks on a variety of topics including conversion, prayer, the Holy Spirit, sacraments, chastity, and the theology of the body. Using funny stories and engaging analogies, Mary draws her audience to the beauty of our Catholic faith, a deeper love for Christ, the Eucharist, and the call to holiness.
