Prayer Ministry

First Line of Defense

Thank you for your yes to care for and minister to the youth at the Steubenville Youth Conference!

The group leader and adult chaperones are the primary ministers to the youth on the weekend. Please be sure to share all of this information with all adult chaperones and religious in your group.

The Team of Prayer Ministers

There are Prayer Ministry Stations located around the Arena or in the Student Union throughout all sessions. Prayer ministers will be wearing red shirts and “Prayer Ministry” lanyards.

Prayer ministers are there to be of assistance in an intercessory and hands-on way to help the teens experience Christ’s love, healing, and hope as much as possible. Please encourage the teens in your group to take an opportunity to pray with our Prayer Ministry Team.

Role of Prayer Ministry

The role of prayer ministry is to serve and support you and your chaperones by offering spiritual assistance to the youth in your group. They can assist you if there are several youth that need attention or if there is a particular situation that you and your chaperones are unsure how to handle.

Remaining Present

If a prayer minister does assist your youth, it is ideal to have an adult chaperone from your group present to watch over and pray with them as well, as it is good for the youth to have a familiar person present. In addition, it is the adult chaperone who will be going home with the youth. Therefore, he or she can continue to pray for and with the youth at home if needed. If this is not possible, know that the prayer minister will encourage the youth and let them know that group leaders and chaperones are there for them, if need be.

Franciscan LEAD Participants

Any teens who participated in the LEAD program will be waiting near Room 314 in the Plaster Student Union during the time of registration on Friday (1 to 4 p.m.). This room is on the same floor as the Grand Ballroom. Once a group leader progresses through registration, he or she will be able to meet up with LEAD teens.

Parking and Transportation

Throughout the weekend, buses may use lots 44, 51, and 51 for parking. Please do not have your bus use lot 52 for overnight or extended parking.

Throughout the weekend, cars may use lots 15, 27, and 37 for parking. All cars must have the parking permit displayed on the dash throughout the weekend. These parking permits can be obtained at registration.

Priest

If you are bringing a priest to the conference and he has traveled with your group, please have Father come with you to the Registration Area in the Grand Ballroom of the Plaster Student Union on Friday. From there, our Priest Hospitality Team will take Father to the hotel and get him checked in.

If your priest is traveling to Springfield on his own, he may check in directly at the hotel:

University Plaza Hotel, 333 S. John Q Hammons Parkway, Springfield, Missouri 65806

If your group is staying off campus and your priest has chosen to stay with your group, please have him join you in coming to the Registration Area in order to be put in touch with the Priest Hospitality Team.

Arrival and Check In

Conference registration will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon in the Grand Ballroom of the Plaster Student Union, 3rd floor.

When you arrive on campus, please have the group leader and potentially one additional chaperone head to the Grand Ballroom. All other teens and chaperones can hang out around campus or in other areas of the Student Union while the group leader registers.
