Dress Code/ Wristbands

Dress Code
All participants are expected to dress modestly. Clothing must cover all undergarments and your midriff and chest. No sagging, low-cut tops, muscle shirts, short shorts, or clothing with offensive language or obscene images is permitted. No costumes or tutus, etc.

Wristbands
Always wear your wristband on your wrist. It must be tight enough so that you cannot slip it off. The wristband is your ticket into Steubenville Orange County and it is your meal pass, so it allows you to eat. If you break your wristband, please bring all the pieces to All for God Central, which is located at the Darling Pavilion – Hope Campus, as soon as possible for a free replacement.  Please do not lose your wristband, as the replacement cost of a lost wristband is $222.

Stickers

The round, coloured sticker on your lanyard determines the time and location where your group will eat lunch and dinner. If your sticker falls off, please go to the Information Desk in the Dalhousie Arts Centre. Breakfast is always eaten in the residence where you slept. Rules and Regulations

  1.       We rely on chaperones to keep youth participants safe and help the conference run smoothly. Chaperones should always know where their youth are at any point in the conference.
  2.       Our chaperone to youth ratio is 1:5 of the same gender. Chaperones must be gender specific to accommodate the gender division in the dorms. Priests attending with a group are not included in the chaperone to youth ratio because they are housed separately from other participants. Peer leaders are also exempt from this ratio.
  3.       Conference events are open only to registered participants, volunteers, and clergy. Due to our Responsible Ministry protocol, we cannot allow other guests to attend portions of the conference unless they are registered. The only exceptions to this policy are for publicized “open” events such as Come and See events and the closing Mass.
  4.       Chaperones are not permitted to bring small children/infants to the conference, in an effort to ensure the experience and safety of our youth.
  5.       We have a zero tolerance policy for alcohol and illegal drug use. Any participant found possessing or consuming alcohol or illegal drugs will be immediately asked to leave the conference and will not be able to attend for at least two years.
  6.       Lights out for youth participants and peer leaders is midnight. Group leaders and chaperones are responsible for ensuring their youth are in their rooms by this time. Youth participants and peer leaders found out of their rooms after lights out will face consequences based on the situation. These include (but are not limited to) being sent home, being banned from future conferences, being reported to the appropriate legal authorities.
  7.       All participants are expected to dress in keeping with our Catholic understanding of modesty as a means of protecting and highlighting each person’s inherent dignity. No spaghetti straps or clothes that show your undergarments or midriff are permitted. Helpful hint for length of shorts: With arms at your side, if your fingertips go past your shorts, they are too short!
  8.       If you witness any youth or chaperone violating any policy in regard to Responsible Ministry or Steubenville Atlantic guidelines, you are required to report it immediately to a member of the conference staff.

Conference staff reserve the right to deny entrance to, or request the ejection of, any group or individual who does not comply with the regulations and policies of the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth or of the Steubenville Atlantic Conference. In the event that an individual/group is denied entrance or is ejected for violating any rule or policy, no refund will be made.

Prayer Ministry

Prayer is the heartbeat of new life in Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit. The role of the prayer ministry at this conference is to serve and support participants, chaperones, and group leaders during the weekend—to support going deeper in our understanding of God and his call on our lives as his sons and daughters, using the gifts so graciously bestowed upon us by him.
Please feel free to approach the prayer ministers any time during the conference if you have any specific prayer intentions, or any question about prayer. The prayer ministry is an extension of the ministry team from the stage, and by you, the group leaders and chaperones. The prayer ministers can be easily identified by their blue T-shirts as they circulate throughout the conference all weekend, and they can also be found in the Prayer Pit located in the lower sculpture court, down the steps from the bookstore.

Smoking/Wi-fi

Dalhousie is a non-smoking university. Those who wish to smoke are asked to leave university property. During sessions we ask all participants, including adult chaperones, to refrain from smoking.

Wi-Fi Access
Your personal Wi-Fi access information can be found printed on your name tag. The NetID and password can only be used by one person at a time. If you are unable to access Wi-Fi, please inquire at our Information Desk in the Dalhousie Arts Centre or at your residence front desk.

For emergencies 24 hours a day, call Dalhousie Security at 902-494-4109 or 4109 from any campus pay phone. For less urgent matters, call 902-494-6400.

For all medical needs, please go to the First Aid Station located in the Dalhousie Arts Centre (Room 409) or call campus security. Hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Youth requiring first aid must be accompanied by an adult. Medication requiring refrigeration should be checked in with the nursing staff.
