Rebranding Catholic Media – How to (re)Build Relevancy

Like any media, Catholic Media is a product with a customer base. Growing the engagement, loyalty and size of that base is a fundamental business challenge which can be addressed through a strategic branding effort. Branding, you will discover, is not merely about marketing and packaging; it is about fostering relationship, understanding expectations, and delivering an experience that meets or exceeds those expectations. This Master Camp will introduce you to the foundations of experiential branding, explore the ways it drives and enhances perceived value, and walk you through the steps of a well-proven implementation process.

Steve Meyer is a paradox or, as he describes himself, a man who lives in the gap between teeth. In addition to his position as Principal & Chief Strategy Officer at The Karma Group, a nationally recognized brand development firm, Steve serves as a permanent deacon in the Green Bay diocese. He is credited with having developed RiverMapping, a consumer research methodology featured in Harvard Business Review, and has authored several articles on organizational branding. Steve has developed brand strategies for Kimberly-Clark Corporation, the Green Bay Packers, and many other businesses and organizations across the country. He is co-founder of StreetLights Outreach and Whatsoever You Do, Inc, and serves on the Executive Committee and the Board of Regents for St. John’s University School of Theology and Seminary. He is a father of three boys and a husband of one wife.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:WHY GREEN BAY?

A:  Green Bay will provide attendees the amenities they expect from a host city, and more. Quality accommodations and a recently renovated conference center reinforce this. Beyond that, Bishop David Ricken’s decree in 2010 recognized Champion, Wisconsin, as the first approved Marian apparition site in the U.S. It’s a fascinating story, and one that will resonate with you. Sure, you’ll get to see Lambeau Field, but stand where the Blessed Mother stood? That’s something unique, something to be celebrated and something we look forward to sharing with you in 2018.

Q: WHAT AIRPORT SHOULD I FLY INTO?

A: Although there are three regional airports to choose from (General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Austin Straubel International Airport in Green Bay, and Appleton International Airport in Appleton), we recommend attendees fly into either Green Bay or Milwaukee. General Mitchell International Airport serves 12 different airlines, giving selection for all to choose from, even though it is about 2 hours from Green Bay. Bus transportation to and from Milwaukee will be available. Austin Straubel, right in Green Bay, offers local service provided by most of the mainline airlines. And while it is only 45 minutes from Green Bay, Appleton International Airport does not offer any significant advantage over flying right into Green Bay, so we recommend flying into Green Bay.

Q: WILL I GET TO MEET AARON RODGERS?

A:  One can hope and pray, but you’re not going to get a definitive answer here. Your odds will increase by being in Green Bay and at Lambeau, though, and that’s a very good thing!

Q: WHERE’S THE CONFERENCE SCHEDULE?

A:  While the website does not have a schedule tab right now, one will be added in the future. We’d encourage you to check back sometime early in 2018 for that.

Q: WHAT IF I’M A VENDOR AND WANT TO BE PART OF THE 2018 CMC EXPO?

A:  We’ll be adding a page for vendors on the site with Expo information, etc. in the next couple months. Thanks for asking!

Q: IS IT REQUIRED TO EAT CHEESE WHILE AT THE CONFERENCE?

A:  No, but why wouldn’t ya?
