SALT

WHAT IS SALT (SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING) PROGRAM?
SALT is a four-day retreat immersed in the sacraments and rich in prayer and Scripture just for young adults ages 18-22.  SALT focuses on equipping young adults with the tools they need to take their faith to the next level and become servant leaders in the example of Christ and the saints. Since an intimate relationship with Jesus is vital in our lives as Christians, SALT participants are introduced to many forms of prayer to strengthen their daily prayer lives.  The week includes training on sharing a personal testimony to help young adults become confident in their role as disciples and witnesses of Christ and his love. Community and accountability are emphasized, and SALT participants become support systems for each other for years to come.
Once the retreat portion is over, SALT participants have the unique opportunity to serve the Steubenville SoCal (OC-San Diego) conferences.  It is an incredible opportunity to give back to the same event that, in many cases, had a profound impact on them as younger teens. During the weekend, SALT participants assist conference staff and volunteers in assuring that high school participants have the best experience possible. Some may also have the opportunity to serve in liturgical roles during Mass and adoration.

WHEN DOES SALT TAKE PLACE?
The SALT program will begin on the Tuesday before the Conference weekend and ends on Sunday. The SALT team will remain together for the weekend and will not join their youth or young adult groups on Friday.  However, they will have the opportunity to greet their groups when they arrive and may travel back home with them Sunday afternoon.

WHAT DOES THE PROGRAM COST?
The entire program costs $300, which includes food and lodging for the whole week, registration fees for the retreat and Steubenville conference, SALT training booklet, and SALT shirt.
