Riding the Wave of Video
St. Petersburg 3

Presented by Allen Kinzly, Archdiocese of Atlanta & Gabriel Pantojas, iHope Media, LLC. We all know that video is on the rise. So how do we keep up with it in our everyday work? After a short presentation to open the session, we will lead round table discussions, hosted by experienced videographers and producers to help you ride the big wave of video. We will break into 2 groups…those just getting started in video and those who have experience.

Business Roundtable
Williams

Presented by Amy Kawula, The Compass. As business professionals, it is critical to build relationships with your diocesan offices and newspaper teams, as well as parishes, school, other Catholic institutions and your diocesan communities. Together we will discuss practical examples of how these relationships play a key role in a successful publication. Be ready to share an example of one relationship that was important in the success of a new print or online advertising client; project, plan or grant to increase circulation and/or new event which added value to your publication.

Using Ratings and Research to Grow
Grand Central/Edge

Presented by Dave Sullivan, Nielsen. Data and metrics are now more important to stations than ever before, and this comes at a time when stations are likely dealing with more and more sets of data for the first time. It’s one thing for employees to disagree with one another on station strategy; it’s another to remain at odds simply because not everyone fully understands the data which is being presented. Dave Sullivan from the Radio Research Consortium will present audience trends and observations from Nielsen Audio data, discuss how to incorporate all the new digital metrics into your discussions, and highlight best practices for both programming and development. You’ll walk away with a better understanding of how to use all of the research available today in order to make the best decisions for your station and your community, going forward.

So How You Doin’? How to Keep it Together Personally and Professionally
St. Petersburg 2

Presented by Penny Wiegert, Diocese of Rockford & Mary Rose Agosta, Archdiocese of Miami. So how you doin’? The phrase made famous in the popular sitcom ‘Friends’ is particularly relevant today for communication professionals as they deal with a vast array of stressful issues and situations that can even put their personal faith in question. This roundtable will provide an opportunity for communication directors to share their experiences and insights on how they handle their jobs and what they do or can do to keep the faith.

Graphic Design for Dummies
Demens

Presented by Malea Hargett, Arkansas Catholic. Even editors and other communicators without design training can create graphics, flyers, logos and social media posts with ease thanks to new tools like Canva and Adobe Spark. In this session, participants will learn how to create their own brand kit to make it easier and faster to produce graphics and printed materials. All participants will receive several handouts to help them with their designs, including a list of 115 free resources.
